Days Between Dates Calculator

Count the exact number of days, weeks, months and business days between any two dates. Handy for deadlines, due dates, countdowns, notice periods and "how long until" questions.

How the Calculator Counts Days

The day count is the plain difference between your two dates. By default it counts the days between them, so the start date isn't included — from Monday to the next Monday is 7 days. If you need both endpoints counted (common for hotel nights or event lengths), add one to get the inclusive total shown above.

What counts as a business day?

Business days here are simply Monday through Friday, with Saturdays and Sundays removed. They do not subtract public holidays — if you need that, check the federal holidays list or use the working days of the year page, which already takes holidays off.

Common ways people use this

  • Countdowns — how many days until a birthday, wedding or holiday.
  • Deadlines — counting notice periods, return windows or project timelines in business days.
  • Milestones — how long you've been at a job, in a relationship or since an event.

Once you know the date you're counting to, mark it on a printable calendar so it stays visible.

Days Between Dates FAQ

Does the calculator include the start and end date?

By default it counts the days between the two dates, so the start date is not included. The result box also shows the inclusive total, which counts both the start and end date.

What is the difference between days and business days?

Days counts every calendar day. Business days counts only Monday through Friday, skipping weekends. Neither number subtracts public holidays.

Can I count backwards to a past date?

Yes. The order of the two dates does not matter — the calculator always shows the positive number of days between them.
